CNC Animal Ambassadors

The Chattanooga Nature Center has a broad display of 30 native species including endangered and threatened species. These Animal Ambassadors live at CNC because they have been impacted by humans in a way that does not allow them to return to the wild. They will remain with us receiving excellent care, housing and food.

Only 38 centers in the world have one of North America’s most endangered animals, the Red Wolf. There are approximately 300 left living in nature centers, zoos and free roaming in a closely monitored 1.5 million acres in Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge, North Carolina. At CNC, we have 2 breeding pair of Red Wolves that are part of the Species Survival Plan (SSP).  As members of the SSP we are a designated breeding site for Red Wolves.

Many of these Animal Ambassadors are used in our educational programs and help thousands of school children and adults learn more about each species, their habitats and how we can help them.

Our Animal Ambassadors can be seen on your visits to the CNC in our Wildlife Wanderland, Snake Tale Alley and Welcome Center.
